Private • Invite-based • Built for real connection
A small, high-trust Discord for veteran filmmakers to connect and build.
After Action Collective is a private space for veterans (and veteran-adjacent creatives) working in film, editing, VFX, writing, and production.
We keep it simple: fewer channels, clearer purpose, and a culture that respects privacy.
Mission
Create a vet-centered creative network that feels safe, organized, and useful — where people can share work,
ask for help, and find collaborators without turning the space into a noisy content feed.
- Find collaborators (crew, editors, writers, producers)
- Share opportunities, grants, calls, and resources
- Get feedback without getting clowned
- Build momentum through accountability and small wins
What it’s not
- Not a public server
- Not a promo dumping ground
- Not a debate club
- Not a replacement for therapy or crisis support
We keep it tight so trust stays intact.
Best fit
- Veterans making films (any stage: early to professional)
- Editors, VFX artists, cinematographers, writers, producers
- People actively building projects and looking for community
Also welcome (as the community grows)
- Veteran-adjacent creatives: spouses/partners, close collaborators
- Institutional allies (schools, veteran departments) helping spread the word
- Selective non-veterans by referral when it benefits the group
Invite waves
- Wave 1: personal network and veterans we know through film circles
- Wave 2: vetted outreach (e.g., partner orgs, referrals, targeted invites)
- Wave 3: institutional support (schools / veteran departments sharing through newsletters)
The goal is quality over size — a community that actually works.
Respect + safety
- No harassment, hate, threats, or sexual pressure
- Don’t post others’ personal info — ever
- Disagreements are fine; disrespect isn’t
Privacy + trust
- What’s shared in the server stays in the server
- No screenshots / reposting without explicit permission
- Don’t DM people unsolicited pitches or spam
Posting expectations
- Promote your work, but don’t flood the place — aim for relevance and context
- If you ask for feedback, include what kind of feedback you want
- If you can help someone, jump in — that’s the culture
